About this meeting
We had another great gathering at the March Side Project Society meetup at the Improving Houston office. It was great to see both familiar faces and new builders join us for an evening of project sharing and learning.
Our guest speaker Matt Wright walked us through how he built Ponderare, a voice-first reflection app that uses AI to transform spoken thoughts into structured insights and useful artifacts. Matt shared his full workflow from capturing ideas through voice journaling to using AI agents to organize, summarize, and generate outputs from those recordings.
Key takeaways from his talk included:
-
Voice can be the fastest way to capture ideas
Speaking your thoughts is often quicker and more natural than writing. Voice journaling removes friction and makes it easier to capture ideas before they disappear. -
AI is powerful for structuring messy thinking
One of the biggest advantages of AI is its ability to organize raw thoughts into structured notes, themes, and summaries. -
Agent-style workflows can unlock better results
Instead of relying on a single AI prompt, breaking tasks into smaller AI steps (transcription, summarization, formatting, etc.) can produce more reliable outputs. -
Build tools for yourself first
Matt originally built Ponderare to help process his own thinking. Many great tools start as personal solutions that evolve into products. -
Ideas become real when you reduce friction
The easier it is to capture, structure, and refine ideas, the more likely they are to turn into real projects.
