About this meeting

Our May meetup brought back lightning talks for the second month in a row after the great feedback from April. The room had awesome energy as members shared updates, connected with new faces, and settled in for a round of fast, insightful talks from fellow creators.

We welcomed five community members to the stage, Alison Ostendorf, Mugdha Kurkure, Matthew Wright, Godson Inikori, and Richard Leon, each delivering a quick five-minute talk packed with lessons, personal experiences, and creative insights. The mix of perspectives sparked great conversations and made for one of our most dynamic sessions yet.

Key Takeaways from this meeting’s lightning talks:

  • Lightning talks are a powerful way to learn fast: The rapid-fire format created space for multiple viewpoints, ideas, and stories in a short time.
  • Everyone has something valuable to share: Each speaker brought a unique angle—from personal growth to technical insights to lessons learned from real projects.
  • Community knowledge compounds: Hearing challenges, wins, and experiences from fellow members helps everyone level up together.
  • Short talks spark deeper conversations: Many topics turned into follow-up discussions during networking, showing how impactful even five minutes can be.
  • Sharing publicly builds confidence and momentum: For several speakers, this was their first time presenting at SPS—an important milestone in their creative journey.

Lightning talk nights continue to be one of our most energizing formats, and the enthusiasm in the room made it clear: our community loves learning from each other. We can’t wait to bring this format back again soon. 🚀
