April 2025
About this meeting
Our April meetup introduced lightning talks for the very first time, giving several SPS members the chance to share what they’ve been building and exploring. The format brought great energy to the room and set the stage for future community-led sessions.
We heard from six members — Aldair Baranda, Nishant Kelkar, Ryan Teodoro, Kyler Smith, Kyle Crockett, and Agnes Giele — each offering quick insights into their projects, passions, and creative work.
Key Takeaways from this meeting’s lightning talks:
- Share what you’re building — even early ideas spark valuable conversations:
- Aldair presented iPlayer.club, a platform helping youth athletes connect with recruiters, camps, and showcases.
- Nishant shared the creativity behind his gaming-focused YouTube channel.
- Ryan introduced 4ccessible.com, a startup improving online accessibility for blind and visually impaired users.
- Kyler, Kyle, and Agnes offered thoughtful perspectives from their own projects and experiences, contributing to a well-rounded session.
- Creators draw inspiration from each other: Hearing a variety of projects — from tech startups to personal hobbies — helped members see new possibilities and directions for their own work.
- Community-led sessions strengthen the group: The willingness of members to step up and share reinforced the collaborative spirit that makes SPS unique.
- Quick talks lead to deeper connections: Even short presentations opened the door to great conversations afterward, from problem-solving to collaboration opportunities.
Our first lightning talk night was a great success and highlighted just how much creativity and momentum exists within the SPS community. We’re excited to continue giving the spotlight to builders at every stage of their journey. 🚀
